Information Specification Modification Image Review 2012 Audi Urban Spyder
Audi is once again opening up new horizons: the Audi urban concept is a 1+1-seat, ultra-light car for congested urban spaces. The technical study being presented at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt does not fit under any of the conventional categories – the Audi urban concept combines elements of a racing car, a fun car and an urban car into one radical new concept. In addition to a Sportback model, Audi is also presenting a Spyder variant.
The Audi urban concept is not based on any previous model – its development is solely oriented on the strict principles of lightweight construction, efficiency and reduction. The result is a concept car with no unnecessary weight, and one that concentrates on the pure essence of sporty motion.
INTERIOR
The result is a vehicle that can not be pigeonholed, a vehicle that has changed the "driving pleasure" long and really not burdened by the weight of conventional concepts. The concept of urban Audi concentrate on driving and convey the pure essence of freedom at a premium. At the same time, it offers comfort and security of a closed car, so far superior to any scooter. With a slim body and free-standing wheel, the study is very dramatic and progressive technology, while at the same time very sporty, but it comfortably.

Urban concept Audi cabin offers seating for two people slightly offset. The roof slides back to enter. This innovative solution makes the concept of urban Audi is more fun to drive because the canopy can remain open in good weather. It also enables the cab that will run very quickly. Fit and finish of the car shows perfection characterized by Audi mandatory. The technology of this car reflects the broad competence of the brand, especially in the ultra-lightweight construction.

 EXTERIOR
Interestingly, with its open wheel design, the Urban Spyder could be described as featuring race car elements. Its wheels, in fact, are free-standing, their surrounding protective plates feature blinking strips of LED lights.

Now factor in its low-slung seating position and ultra-lightweight construction, and suddenly the Urban Spyder is starting to sound like a race car built for the street--a green race car, that is.

Power comes from a pair of e-tron branded electric motors. Audi doesn’t specify which axles they are mounted to, nor how powerful they are, but it’s likely that there’s one on each axle to form a quattro all-wheel drive system.

All the other exterior hardware looks the same, including the skinny, freestanding, 21-inch wheels and flat nose. The only difference is that the tires are traditional black rather than white. The Spyder also retains the same 1+1 layout, ultralight build, lithium-ion battery and dual-motor powertrain as the hard-top. Both variants of the Urban Concept will appear at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, which opens to media on September 13. source:greencarreports.com,ultimatecarpage.com,zulva.com
